This fun, flashy piece by the great violinist Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst is sure to be a favorite with your intermediate student. Ernst, a Moravian Jewish violinist was one of Paganini’s greatest successors. Gypsy Dance follows in the style of Paganini and explores the range of the instrument. Fingerings are included using 1st – 4th positions. Long slurred sixteenth triplets help develop bow control and hand independence. With these techniques this piece is a level 4.
