Come People of the Risen King

An early intermediate piano solo of Come People of the Risen King by Stuart Townend, and Keith and Kristyn Getty. The player will find variety of techniques. These include a C scale in sixteenth notes, tied eighths on the off beat, voicing of the left hand melody, broken G suspended chord hand over hand for 4 octaves. This arrangement has a wide dynamic range. So it is sure to challenge the early intermediate player.

An optional violin part allows an intermediate violinist to collaborate with a friend. While the violin part is mostly in 1st position, there is 1 shift into 3rd position at the end. At times the violin part doubles the melody. But most often the violinist is playing harmony. This allows the arrangement to stand alone as a piano solo. But it could also be played as a duet.

Violin Part:  Level 3: The bowing incorporates 2 note slurs and 2 note hooked bows. There are also fast retakes. The arrangement is in the Key of C and uses some accidentals. So the violinist needs to be comfortable moving the fingers from “high” to “low.” There are a variety of rhythmic patterns. They will experience both long tied whole notes as well as sixteenth note passages.
