Apple Orchard A & E String Activity
The Apple Orchard A & E String Activity is a way to review finger numbers and note names on the A and E string. You can easily turn it into a game or just use it as an activity. Sometimes it is nice just to not have to win! This helps students think about the fingerboard in their mind and know the name of the note that the finger is playing. If you have a student with a broken arm, wrist, or jammed finger, this might be the perfect solution for lessons or practice time.
To play the Apple Orchard A & E String Activity, you’ll need a die. I snagged one out of our Quelf game…but you might want to get one for your teaching supplies. You’ll also need 2 types of coins. 5 Pennies and 5 dimes work great! You could really use anything, but something flat works best. You don’t want the pieces to roll. The activity is simple. The student rolls the die. Then he decides what letters the finger number on the die plays. It could be on the A string or the E string. After you pick one of the letters that the finger plays, then you take a coin and cover up an apple with that letter. If you roll a 5, then you loose a turn. If you roll a 6, you get to go again. Take turns rolling the die and placing coins until all your coins are on the tree.
You can print off the apple tree in color or in black and white and have the student color the page.
