Annotation

Set of 12 pieces of arranged melodies of folk songs or from operas. Mostly first position with some 4th finger extension or short passages of shifting into 3rd position.

No. 1 – Norma. Semiraide. Elisire D’Amore in G Major – Includes key change, tempo changes, and meter changes within the piece; Uses dotted eighth sixteenth pattern. Some spiccato, two notes slurred followed by hooked bow; Some fourth finger extensions or shifting into 3rd position. Level 3

No. 2 – Le Freyschütz in C Major – Use of long legato slurs in the first half contrasts with the detache bowing of the second half. The theme by Carl Maria von Weber is set in C major challenges player in bow distribution work as well as string crossings if played in first position. Level 3

No. 3 – Redowa de Wallerstein in G Major –  A delightful set of theme and variations. Set in the key of G with a short lyrical section in the E-flat. It also includes some open string double-stop as well as a short section of bariolge. Level 3

No. 4 – Derniere Pensee de Weber in Bb Major – A lyrical piece with a variety of slurred bowing, up to 6 note slurs and four measures of staccato sixteenth notes. Variety of rhythm patterns with slurred bowing. Level 3

No. 5 Donna Del Lago. Air Suisse in C Major – Key changes and meter changes from 4/4 to 6/8 with tempo alterations at transitions. Slurred bowing for most of the piece with some short passages of marcato and spiccato bowing. Level 3

No. 6 Hymne Autrichien. Don Juan in Bb Major – Set in 4/4 throughout. A dramatic introduction, very lyrical writing with long legato bowing for the two themes and ending with a short staccato. Level 3
