Left Hand
- Excellently fingered. Uses 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th position.
- Changes key for the trio from A minor to D Major.
- 2 Fingered Double stop in first position
- This is fingered to move in and out of all 4 positions. Student should feel comfortable shifting before beginning this piece.
- Preview spot: m. 13 – m. beginning in 4th position the phrase ends with a 1st finger extending down to 3rd position. Then after a sixteenth rest, the hand moves again down to 2nd position for 1 measure, then to 1st position. The phrase repeats, but instead of beginning in 4th position, a step wise pattern takes the student up to the finger in 3rd position, then uses finger replacement to start the same shifting pattern.
- Uses Db5 in First position – with a low 3rd finger.
- First finger extension from 3rd position, down to F#, then immediately back up.
- Preview: m. 38-39 – Shift from 3rd position into 4th position over a string crossing.

- Spiccato/ Brushed 16ths
- Legato sections using full bows.
Rhythm
- 32nds, 16th patterns
- Traditional tango rhythm – 16th, 8th, 16th,
